Determine if a specific year is a leap year using this tool. Enter the year below and click 'Check Leap Year' to find out if it is a leap year or not. This tool helps in understanding whether a year has an extra day in February, which is essential for calendar and planning purposes.
What is a Leap Year?
A leap year contains 366 days instead of the usual 365 days, with an additional day added to February (February 29). Leap years occur every 4 years to keep our calendar year synchronized with the astronomical year. However, there are exceptions: years divisible by 100 are not leap years unless they are also divisible by 400. For example, the year 2000 was a leap year, but the year 1900 was not.
Example:
To check if 2024 is a leap year, enter '2024' and click 'Check Leap Year'. Since 2024 is divisible by 4 and not by 100, it qualifies as a leap year.
Note:
Ensure the year is entered correctly. The input should be a valid numeric year. If you enter a non-numeric value or a year that is out of the acceptable range, you will receive an error message. For best results, enter a year within a reasonable range, such as from 1900 to the current year.
The result will clearly indicate whether the entered year is a leap year. For example, entering '2024' will confirm it as a leap year, showing that it has 366 days with February 29 included.
